A Closer Look at the S1 Connected Air Quality Sensor
Indietro

One of the key technological components of SIMIACCI is the S1 Connected Air Quality Sensor, developed by partner TEQOYA. This device is designed for continuous indoor air quality (IAQ) monitoring, combining wireless connectivity with modular sensor capabilities to adapt to a wide range of environments.

What it measures

In its standard configuration, the S1 monitors core parameters including temperature, relative humidity, and particulate matter. Its modular architecture allows additional sensors to be integrated depending on specific monitoring requirements — a crucial feature for the diverse environments found across GLAMs.

Data management with AirObserver

Data collection and visualisation are handled through TEQOYA’s dedicated platform, AirObserver. The platform supports the management of multiple monitoring campaigns and provides access to IAQ trends and raw datasets for further analysis, enabling researchers and conservators to make informed, data-driven decisions.

Tailored for GLAMs

To address the specific needs of Galleries, Libraries, Archives, and Museums, SIMIACCI foresees targeted adaptations to the S1 system, including:

  • Integration of dedicated sensors for key pollutants such as VOCs, NOx, acetic acid, and H₂S
  • Support for redundant measurements to improve data reliability
  • Tailored user interfaces aligned with GLAM operational workflows

Already in the field

The Muséum National d’Histoire Naturelle (MNHN) is already showcasing one of these devices, developed by TEQOYA in collaboration with SquairTech — the SIMIACCI partner responsible for scaling up MOF synthesis and contributing to the adaptation and field validation of commercial
